~ Perception ~

It is no accident that you perceive the things around yourself, for this is the predominant activity of an incarnation. It is not the case, though, that the things around you just so happen to be there and you just so happen to perceive them. No, the things of this world have to come from somewhere, and that “somewhere” is your own consciousness. It has to alone be your own consciousness, for you are the one perceiving them. They each signify the fullness of their Source. This is what gives rise to the flow of Life Force, Prana. Life is but a presentation of the Source. That Source is Will, your will, expressing Consciousness, the bringer of all that you perceive. This is Self/God.

In short, you perceive only God, for God, by definition, is everything. Strictly speaking though, you are actually perceiving the various presentations of God, where all of God comes across as this or that. Perception itself is but one’s own incarnation from start to end. It’s not as if something is outside of you and you then perceive it and process the perception, arriving at meaning. No, this only appears to be the case. This appearance is the lie that is the incarnation. The truth is that you are itself the perception, where your “lower self” is but a projection of the “Higher self”. In Truth, when you look about yourself, you see but Self/God. This is to recognize the myriad presentations of Self/God.

The world comes to you so freely because you are a conscious being. But what does it mean to be conscious? To be conscious is the action of Will, for it is not possible to be conscious without the will to be conscious. Since nothing ever happens without will, Will is the creator of all there is. It is the author of Consciousness which, in turn, is the author of energy which, in turn, is the author of creation:

Transcendence -- gives rise to --> Consciousness
Consciousness -- gives rise to --> Energy
Energy -- gives rise to --> Creation

Firstly, you have to will to be conscious. This is what sustains the present moment. Since the present moment is God, one can see how Consciousness Itself is God, the meaning of Self. The present moment brought on the notion of your birth – the spark of your incarnation in the first place and what presses your body through the course of your life – aging it. Once conscious, when you look about yourself, your consciousness, again through will, produces all things known and perceived by you. Recognition of the created, i.e. how the energy is organized is known as perception. When perception itself is appreciated and digested for what it is, the individual soul results. The individual soul is thus the embodiment of meaning (individuality). This is after all why we call it a soul in the first place. Since the individual soul is the embodiment of all appreciated perceptions, that which is not appreciated is, in error, defined to be “God”.

Now all things are expressly individualistic organizations of energy. The organization of energy depends solely on how your consciousness organizes the energy that it produces. So what you perceive, then, is strictly up to you, your “Higher Self”. It is in this way that your “Higher Self” chooses how to incarnate as your “lower self”.

To prove that perception is nothing but an organization of energy, simply close your eyes and think of something. When you see the actual image in your mind’s eye, know that it indeed came about through thought, the vehicle of energy. The thought channeled and organized the energy, thereby producing a perception.

Types of Perception

Loosely speaking, there are three types of perception:

- Perception of the physical universe
- Mental Imagery
- Clairsensory Perception

Perception of the Physical Universe

Perception of the “physical” occurs only within the brain in response to senses of “the physical”. So we can see, hear, feel, taste, and smell a “physical” object. Notice that the “physical” object is just energy organized by a very low center of Consciousness. That center of Consciousness is known as the root chakra. This chakra spawns thus the entire physical universe. For the brain to perceive any object of a “physical” nature, the brain needs to vibrate at the same frequency of the root chakra. This vibration is of course, for man, the norm.

Mental Imagery

Mental perception, too, occurs only within the mind, but through use of the imagination. The imagination is a very powerful tool in the manipulation of energy since thought is the vehicle through which energy is transported and organized. The imagination plays thus a key role in magick.

Clairsensory Perception

Clairsensory perception is used loosely here to refer to all sensory activity of the spiritual planes. It thus refers to all clairvoyant (“seeing”), clairaudio (“hearing”), and clairsensory (all-sensation, including “feeling”, ”smelling”, ”tasting”) perception. Clairsensory perception occurs as a result of the secondary brow chakra becoming energized (See my chapter on the Chakras for details).

How the Brain “Perceives”

For the brain, perception arises out of a difference between two cognitive states. Since the brain only works through point of reference, something will only be known if it differs from it’s current cognitive state of mind. Only once there is a new cognitive state, will the brain perceive anything. Even if you sit and stare at an object, the brain’s cognitive states do change via vibrational flux and it continuously sees new things about the object. This is known, in layman’s terms, as being “conscious”.

Whatever is perceived by the brain is constructed by the brain as the mind, since the perception itself is merely a cognitive state which of course itself represents a series of cognitive states. The mind is placed in a certain state, and this state, through mutual confirmation with states that represent "past" perceptions, manifests the perception that is the present moment. In this way, perception of the mind is self-induced. Reality is thus self-propagating and is found only in an ever-present state of mind.

The brain, being but a machine, seeks stability and will always fool itself into a comfortable state of cognition. This “comfort zone” fits snugly into the most dominant cognitive state. The brain will do whatever it takes to either pass or fail perceptions as belonging to a particular reality. For example, the brain regards those things of the imagination to be inferior to those of reality, and thus believes the bazaar considerations of the imagination to be impossible in reality. This is blindness and actually madness, for indeed all things are possible and never should any one thing be impossible in any reality. Now there are of course laws governing the worlds, but all things indeed are possible simply because all things are but manifestations of Oneself.

Whatever you perceive, you perceive Self/God. This is after all the nature of an incarnation. We call it life and the experience of life. What life actually is then, is the mechanism through which one sees Oneself. The meaning of Oneself is packaged as the concentrations of energy all about you. It is how you understand your True Self – how you come to terms with Self/God. Seeing a taxicab is just one way that you are, in this lifetime, coming to terms with Self/God. In this way, the enlightened person will actually see the taxicab as Himself. The understanding itself is your soul, the embodiment of meaning (individuality). If there were no understanding, there would truly be nothing! The mere fact that there is an organization of energy proves that one has understood Oneself to the degree of the organization of that energy, for one has already organized one’s consciousness to at least that degree. This is why Self/God is indeed the Bringer of life.

Perception is Will, the Creator

Perception is the process whereby energy is organized. The organization itself is called “creation”. Perception is thus the Creator of creation (all that one perceives). In this way then, perception is actually Will, the Creator. When you perceive, you will whatever you perceive – as and when it is done. Creation is nothing but the expression of Will, your Purest Essence. That which you perceive is termed “creation”. The nature of creation then is nothing but the way in which you see Self/God. As you perceive, you create, for your consciousness, through Will, the creator, structures itself as the object perceived. This we call life. For as we live, we will to live. When it is time to die, we shall will this too, for death is but a passageway within life to further life – akin to the blinking of one’s eye in this world. Upon death, the whole world, too, disappears, for the consciousness that brought it all on in the first place has now restructured itself to bring on the next life. If a person reincarnates back into this particular world, then the entire world (with a fabricated history) is created all over again. This new incarnation will again serve only as a lie to single out the Truth – Transcendence.

Life is but perception – the various organizations of energy that come about through consciousness. You will never die, because your life right now has to come from somewhere, and it comes from your consciousness. If you are conscious now you will always be, for you are either conscious or you are not. You are either Will, or you are not.
